Most global companies offer trainee programs to a chosen few among newly graduated students. As a trainee you will gain insight into a selected area or several areas within a company. As a step in your development you'll oftently serve some time abroad, and in this way you will start building you network at an early stage. One of the goals of a trainee program is to find the young talent at an early stage, which will later take key positions at the company in question.

What qualifications are required?

One of the requirements is that you have a university degree or is studying towards your obtainment of a university degree. In some cases which type of degree you have i irrelevant. Work experience can be a merit, while in other cases language skills are of the upmost importance. Internships

Internships have been common in many countries across the globe. Even in Scandinavia it's a growing phenomena. An internship usually runs from 3-12 months, and the goal is to gain insight into a certain company's business. However, it's important to point out that an intership doesn't award salaries to the participants - therefore you can either chose to finance it through student aid, your own means or try to obtain a scholarship.

Why should you apply for an Internship?

An internship is often an excellent way to get a foot into your dream company. It will also reward you with practical work experience should you later apply for a job within the same area or company. It is often a plus if wish to apply for a trainee program. If the company you apply for is a larger company, then be prepared for some fierce competition; however, should you be one of the chosen few it might be the experience that launches you into a stellar corporate career.
